If you're on the edge of the pit and don't want to get hit, when you see a crowd-killer getting closer, don't be afraid to push him away or use your fist/leg as a personal space barrier.If you don't want to get hit, you can always stay behind the crowd line, but be careful because when a guy doing the 'tornado' gets close to the crowd everyone is going to rapidly move back and can either bump into you or fall on you.Some people might be afraid of it, or just don't want to get hit, and whether you're going to your first punk show and don't want to get hit, or if you got invited to one, or if you plan on actually being in the pit for the first time, I thought I'd share some tips on it that I thought up today. For those who don't know a mosh pit is an open area in the crowd of a rock/punk/metal concert that people use to dance, crowd-kill, and basically go crazy. Just thought about writing this after being in a mosh pit recently with someone who wasn't used to it. Moderators have full discretion in making decisions they deem to be in the best interest of the subreddit.
